Skincare Rooted in Reverence

My approach to skincare is rooted in reverence—for the body, for the natural rhythms of aging, and for ecological wisdom. Rather than chasing false promises or pursuing youth relentlessly, I believe radiant skin is cultivated from within through wholesome nourishment, deep hydration, nervous system regulation, and gentle, consistent care.

To that end, I eat nutrient-dense whole foods, move my body daily and practice micro nervous system resets throughout the day. And, about ten years ago, I started making my own skincare products. I was navigating chemical sensitivities, and my skin reacted to nearly every mainstream product I tried—formulas full of synthetic ingredients and additives I couldn't pronounce. Even products marketed 'organic' or 'for sensitive skin' were often prohibitively expensive or fell short of my needs. As I entered my 40s, I also noticed the natural shifts that come with time: fine lines, changes in elasticity, and a loss of radiance as estrogen and collagen began to decline. So I did what I always do - I made what I needed.

I formulated a facial serum using simple, organic, whole-plant ingredients—something my sensitive, combination skin could actually receive. Seeing the benefits, I refined The Serum until it felt just right. Last holiday season, I made a small batch and gifted it to ten of my closest friends, without much expectation. To my surprise, the response was overwhelming. 'My skin is drinking it up,' they said. Faces, hands, décolletés looked brighter, more nourished, more alive. I assumed they were just being kind—until more friends received bottles for birthdays and reached out with the same unsolicited enthusiasm.

This year, I turned 50. While I'm not interested in chasing youth, I do love feeling healthy, radiant, and at home in my skin. Seasonal shifts, diet, lifestyle, and emotional well-being all emanate to the skin, and true beauty comes from supporting these systems holistically. I favor simple, bioavailable, whole-plant ingredients and time-tested practices—massage, circulation, lymphatic support, sun protection, and modalities like gua sha and facial acupuncture.
